This is my first Thanksgiving in France. Even when I lived here years ago, I went to Germany to celebrate Thanksgiving. There were more Americans (and Germans) who understood the holiday and knew how to cook a turkey. This year we have been invited into the home of a lovely older lady who wanted to share Thanksgiving with her friends and an American like myself. As it is only Wednesday, we haven’t yet celebrated together, but I wanted to say express my gratitude and say thank you because I have so much to be grateful for.
I have read many books about the positive effects of gratitude upon our lives. I have always been an optimist and someone who practices gratitude in my life. Today, this is just a little gratitude blitz before I share more tales from La Belle France.
To my family, thank you for being you. My dear daughter Bean is one of the best little traveling companions. She is always happy to try something new, take a long walks (as long as we can stop in a store, or at the park or boulangerie), and she is always interested in meeting new people in new towns. My parents, brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins, thank you so much for having us in your homes and loving us and supporting our adventure. It was a pleasure to pass time with you all, discover the places where you lived, eat at your table and spend time talking with you. We will miss the spaghetti and cheese, broccoli and cheese, dressing, sweet potato pie…I have to stop. If you could overnight me a plate, that would be amazing. We all know it tastes better the next day anyway.
Thank you dear friends for all of your support as well. It is a great to hear your voice when I am so far away. It is wonderful to be able to hear what is going on in your life. Most of all, I am glad to know that you didn’t forget about me as soon as I got on the plane to have my great adventure.
Myspoclife Readers, you warm my heart every time I hear from you, every time you leave a comment or send an email. I am so glad that I listened to that still small voice that kept telling me to create a blog. When I created the blog, I don’t think I could have imagined how much I would enjoy writing for others. However, it is a pleasure to spend time every week talking about minimalism and travel with people who understand. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
And now, before I start sounding too much like someone receiving an award, Happy Thanksgiving 2016! Eat as much as you like because if I was there, I certainly would.
